Born in 1977, Luis Fernando Pérez began his music education at the Conservatoire Pozuelo in Alarcón under the tutelage of Andrés Sánchez-Tirado. He has afterwards continued his studies at the Reina Sofia Higher School of Music, where he is currently a lecturer in chamber music. He has perfected his pianistic skills in classes with Dmitri Bashkirov and Galina Egyazarova and his chamber music proficiency with Marta Gulyas. He has continued studies at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, with Pierre-Laurent Aimard as his teacher. At the same time he has specialised in the interpretation of Spanish music at the Marshall Academy in Barcelona in classes taught by Alicia de Larrocha, Carlota Garriga and Carmen Bravo de Mompou. At the school Pérez received his Master’s degree in Spanish music.
He went on to develop his skills in master classes taught by musicians of such renown as Leon Fleisher, Andras Schiff, Menahem Pressler, Fou Tsong and Carmen Bravo de Mompou. A native of Madrid, Pérez has won many awards, including the Prix Franz Liszt and the Alicia de Larrocha Award. He now teaches his own master classes in Hungary, France and in numerous cities in Spain.
He has given successful performances of chamber music recitals and as soloist playing with orchestra on numerous concert stages and festivals in Europe, Japan and the United States.
Among the many recorded works which won awards are Albeniz’ Ibéria and Navarra, for which he received the Medal Albeniz, sonatas by Padre Soler (recorded for the Mirare label) and works by Chopin (also for Mirare). His next record for Mirare will be contain Granados’ Goyescas. Pérez’ performance of this work has since become a reference standard.
In the nearest future Luis Fernando Pérez will play concerts in Bilbao, Tours, Chambord, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo, Gijón, Santander, Cordoue, Lisbon, Agen, Moscow, Paris and Lima.
