Trio Chausson

Philippe Talec violin

Antoine Landowski cello

Boris de Larochelambert piano

“The Trio appears to be one of the best chamber music ensembles. The musicians’ extraordinary virtuosity translates into poetic reflection on the work and on its sense of interpretation.” Pianiste

The music of Chausson captivates the listener. It is full of dilemmas and sudden turns, representative of French art of that period. Mesmerised by the music, Philippe Talec, Antoine Landowski and Boris de Larochelambert have given their first concert at the festival in Clairac in 2001, after which the career of Trio Ernest Chausson has picked up pace.

Having completed the Paris Conservatory with awards in the category of instrumental and trio performance in the class of Pierre-Laurent Aimard, the musicians have been perfecting their skills since 2004 together with Claire Désert, Ami Flammer and Alain Meunier. At the same time, the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) has extended a standing invitation which enabled the Ensemble to obtain guidance from the most eminent chamber musicians of Europe, including Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartett), Anner Bylsma, Gérard Wyss, Eckart Heiligers (Trio Jean-Paul), Shmuel Ashkenazy (Vermeer Quartet), violinist Rainer Kussmaul (soloist of the Berlin Philharmonic and member of the Stuttgart Piano Trio) and Johannes Meissl (Artis-Quartett Wien). All three musicians have obtained their teaching credentials in 2008.

Trio Chausson received first prizes at the Joseph Joachim International Chamber Music Competition in Weimar in November 2005 and at the Illzach competition in the same year (at the latter competition the musicians also received the SPEDIDAM prize for best interpretation of a work by a French composer). In the year 2004 Trio Chausson has also received prizes at the Joseph Haydn competition in Vienna (prize for best interpretation of a contemporary work), the FNAPEC Pro Musica award in Paris and at Château Beychevelle.

For its dazzling achievements, the AFAA (CulturesFrance, currently the Institut Français) has selected the Trio to perform in the Déclic program in 2005, where they have recorded a concert for Radio France. At the same time the ensemble was nominated as the emerging stars of the 2007-2008 music season, going on to perform in major European concert halls and in Carnegie Hall in New York.

Trio Chausson played at numerous festivals on five continents, including La Folle Journée in Nantes, Bilbao and Tokyo since 2008. Three albums recorded for the Mirare label of works by Chausson, Ravel, Schubert, Chopin and Liszt were received with enthusiasm by music critics (Maestro from Pianiste magazine). The Trio is currently recording a new album of French music, also for Mirare.
