Studied conducting, theory and composition at the Warsaw Academy of Music making his conducting debut in 1975 at the Polish National Opera where later (1998-2005) he held the post of Artistic and General Director.
In 1977 he won 3rd Prize at the prestigious Karajan Competition and made his Berlin and New York debut since when he performs regularly with renowned orchestras and opera houses throughout the world.
During his distinguished career he has enjoyed a close association with Sinfonia Varsovia with whom he has also toured widely and appears regularly at the La Folle Journee Festivals in France Spain and Japan.
He has to his credit many award-winning and acclaimed recordings with all the four London orchestras, the PNRSO and the Polish National Opera. For his CD of The Haunted Manor (EMI Classics) he was awarded a Platinum Disc while his recording of King Roger (CD Accord) was nominated for ‘Record of the Year’ by BBC Music Magazine.
